اللہ کے نام سے شروع جو نہایت مہربان ہمیشہ رحم فرمانے والا ہے

کَمۡ اَہۡلَکۡنَا مِنۡ قَبۡلِہِمۡ مِّنۡ قَرۡنٍ فَنَادَوۡا وَّ لَاتَ حِیۡنَ مَنَاصٍ ﴿۳﴾

3. ہم نے کتنی ہی امّتوں کو اُن سے پہلے ہلاک کر دیا تو وہ (عذاب کو دیکھ کر) پکارنے لگے حالانکہ اب خلاصی (اور رہائی) کا وقت نہیں رہا تھاo

3. How many generations have We destroyed before them? And they called out for help when the time for escape had passed.

3. How many a community We have destroyed before them! And they started crying (on seeing the torment) when there was no time left for deliverance (and release).

3. Kam ahlakna min qablihim min qarnin fanadaw walata heena manasin

3. Hvor mange generasjoner utslettet Vi ikke før dem, og de begynte å anrope (ved å se pinen), enda det ikke var tid for befrielse?

3. हमने कितनी ही उम्मतों को उनसे पहले हलाक कर दिया तो वोह (अ़ज़ाब को देखकर) पुकारने लगे हालांकि अब ख़ुलासी (और रहाई) का वक़्त नहीं रहा था।

৩. আমরা তাদের পূর্বে কতোই না জনগোষ্ঠীকে ধ্বংস করেছি! অতঃপর তারা (শাস্তি অবলোকন করে) ফরিয়াদ করেছিল, অথচ তখন নিষ্কৃতির (ও পরিত্রাণের) সময় অবশিষ্ট ছিল না।
(Sad, 38 : 3)

وَ عَجِبُوۡۤا اَنۡ جَآءَہُمۡ مُّنۡذِرٌ مِّنۡہُمۡ ۫ وَ قَالَ الۡکٰفِرُوۡنَ ہٰذَا سٰحِرٌ کَذَّابٌ ۖ﴿ۚ۴﴾

4. اور انہوں نے اس بات پر تعجب کیا کہ ان کے پاس اُن ہی میں سے ایک ڈر سنانے والا آگیا ہے۔ اور کفّار کہنے لگے: یہ جادوگر ہے، بہت جھوٹا ہےo

4. They think it strange that a warner has come to them from among themselves. So the disbelievers say: ‘This is a magician, a great liar.

4. And they wondered that a Warner had come to them from amongst themselves and the disbelievers said: ‘He is a magician, a great liar.

4. WaAAajiboo an jaahum munthirun minhum waqala alkafiroona hatha sahirun kaththabun

4. Og de forundret seg over at det kom en advarer fra deres egen midte til dem, og de vantro sa: «Dette er en magiker, en løgnhals!

4. और उन्होंने इस बात पर तअ़ज्जुब किया कि उनके पास उन ही में से एक डर सुनाने वाला आ गया है। और कुफ्फार कहने लगे: ये जादूगर है, बहुत झूटा है।

৪. আর তারা বিস্ময় বোধ করেছে যে, তাদের নিকট তাদেরই মধ্য থেকে একজন সতর্ককারী আগমন করেছেন এবং কাফেরেরা বললো, ‘এ তো এক যাদুকর, বড় মিথ্যাবাদী।

وَ انۡطَلَقَ الۡمَلَاُ مِنۡہُمۡ اَنِ امۡشُوۡا وَ اصۡبِرُوۡا عَلٰۤی اٰلِہَتِکُمۡ ۚۖ اِنَّ ہٰذَا لَشَیۡءٌ یُّرَادُ ۖ﴿ۚ۶﴾

6. اور اُن کے سردار (ابوطالب کے گھر میں نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی مجلس سے اٹھ کر) چل کھڑے ہوئے (باقی لوگوں سے) یہ کہتے ہوئے کہ تم بھی چل پڑو، اور اپنے معبودوں (کی پرستش) پر ثابت قدم رہو، یہ ضرور ایسی بات ہے جس میں کوئی غرض (اور مراد) ہےo

6. The leaders among them (i.e. the Quraysh) departed (saying): ‘Walk away and stand firm to your gods! Indeed, this is something designed (to usurp power).

6. And their chiefs (stood up terminating their meeting with the Holy Prophet [blessings and peace be upon him] at Abu Talib’s house) and walked out saying (to the rest of the people): ‘You also walk out, and be firm-footed in (worshipping) your gods. There is for sure some motive (and purpose) behind it.

6. Waintalaqa almalao minhum ani imshoo waisbiroo AAala alihatikum inna hatha lashayon yuradu

6. Og høvdingene deres reiste seg og gikk sin vei (fra samlingen til den sjenerøse Profeten ﷺ hjemme hos onkelen hans Abō Tālib) mens de sa (til resten): «Gå, dere også, og vær stø på føttene i (å dyrke) gudene deres. Sannelig, dette er en ting som har en baktanke.

6. और उनके सरदार (अबू तालिब के घर में नबिय्ये अकरम सल्लल्लाहु अ़लैहि व सल्लम की मज्लिस से उठकर) चल खड़े हुए (बाक़ी लोगों से) ये कहते हुए कि तुम भी चल पड़ो, और अपने माबूदों (की परस्तिश) पर साबित क़दम रहो ये ज़रूर ऐसी बात है जिसमें कोई ग़रज़ (और मुराद) है।

৬. আর তাদের সরদারগণ (খাজা আবু ত্বালিব রাদিয়াল্লাহু তা’আলা আনহুর গৃহে নবী আকরাম সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া আলিহী ওয়াসাল্লামের মজলিস থেকে) উঠে চলে গেল; (বাকী লোকদেরকে) এ কথা বলতে বলতে যে, ‘তোমরাও চলো। আর তোমাদের উপাস্যদের (বিশ্বাসের) উপর অটল থাকো। নিশ্চয়ই এর পেছনে কোনো অভিপ্রায় (ও উদ্দেশ্য) রয়েছে।

مَا سَمِعۡنَا بِہٰذَا فِی الۡمِلَّۃِ الۡاٰخِرَۃِ ۚۖ اِنۡ ہٰذَاۤ اِلَّا اخۡتِلَاقٌ ۖ﴿ۚ۷﴾

7. ہم نے اس (عقیدۂ توحید) کو آخری ملّتِ (نصرانی یا مذہبِ قریش) میں بھی نہیں سنا، یہ صرف خود ساختہ جھوٹ ہےo

7. We did not hear any such claim in the last religion. It is nothing but a fabrication.

7. We have not heard of this (belief in the Oneness of God) even amongst the last community (of Christianity or the religion of the Quraysh). This is but a fabricated lie.

7. Ma samiAAna bihatha fee almillati alakhirati in hatha illa ikhtilaqun

7. Vi har ikke hørt om dette (trosoverbevisningen om Allahs Enhet) i den siste troen (kristendommen eller stammen Qorayshs tro), dette er kun en oppdiktet løgn.

7. हमने इस (अ़क़ीदए तौहीद) को आख़िरी मिल्लते (नसरानी या मज़हबे क़ुरैश) में भी नहीं सुना, ये सिर्फ खु़द साख़्ता झूट है।

৭. আমরা একথা (এ একত্ববাদের আকীদা) সর্বশেষ (খ্রিস্টান) ধর্মেও (অথবা কুরাইশদের মতাদর্শেও) শুনিনি। এ তো কেবল মনগড়া মিথ্যা।

ءَ اُنۡزِلَ عَلَیۡہِ الذِّکۡرُ مِنۡۢ بَیۡنِنَا ؕ بَلۡ ہُمۡ فِیۡ شَکٍّ مِّنۡ ذِکۡرِیۡ ۚ بَلۡ لَّمَّا یَذُوۡقُوۡا عَذَابِ ؕ﴿۸﴾

8. کیا ہم سب میں سے اسی پر یہ ذکر (یعنی قرآن) اتارا گیا ہے؟ بلکہ وہ میرے ذکر کی نسبت شک میں (گرفتار) ہیں، بلکہ انہوں نے ابھی میرے عذاب کا مزہ نہیں چکھاo

8. Has the Reminder been revealed (only) to him among us (all)?’ Instead, they are in doubt regarding My Reminder. Nay! They have not yet tasted My punishment.

8. Has this admonition (the Qur’an) been sent down to him alone out of all of us?’ To be more precise, they are (caught) in doubt about My admonition. But in truth they have not yet tasted My torment.

8. Aonzila AAalayhi alththikru min baynina bal hum fee shakkin min thikree bal lamma yathooqoo AAathabi

8. Har denne formaningen (Koranen) blitt åpenbart kun til ham, av oss alle?» Faktisk er de (fanget) i tvil om Min formaning, faktisk har de ikke enda følt Min pines smak.

8. क्या हम सब में से उसी पर ये ज़िक्र (यानी क़ुरआन) उतारा गया है, बल्कि वोह मेरे ज़िक्र की निस्बत शक में (गिरफ्तार) हैं, बल्कि उन्होंने अभी मेरे अ़ज़ाब का मज़ा नहीं चखा।

৮. আমাদের সবার মধ্য থেকে কি শুধু তাঁর উপর এ উপদেশ (কুরআন) অবতীর্ণ হলো?’ বরং তারা আমার উপদেশের ব্যাপারে সন্দিহান। তারা এখনো আমার শাস্তি আস্বাদন করেনি।

اَمۡ لَہُمۡ مُّلۡکُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الۡاَرۡضِ وَ مَا بَیۡنَہُمَا ۟ فَلۡیَرۡتَقُوۡا فِی الۡاَسۡبَابِ ﴿۱۰﴾

10. یا اُن کے پاس آسمانوں اور زمین کی اور جو کچھ اِن دونوں کے درمیان ہے اس کی بادشاہت ہے؟ (اگر ہے) تو انہیں چاہئے کہ رسّیاں باندھ کر (آسمان پر) چڑھ جائیںo

10. Or do they own the kingdom of the heavens, the earth and whatever is between them? (If so,) then let them ascend (into the heavens) by some means.

10. Or do they possess the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them? (If so,) then they should tie up ropes and climb up (to heaven).

10. Am lahum mulku alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma falyartaqoo fee alasbabi

10. Eller har de kongemakten over himlene og jorden og alt det som mellom dem begge er? (Hvis ja!) Da bør de binde rep og klatre opp (til himmelen).

10. या उनके पास आस्मानों और ज़मीन की और जो कुछ इन दोनों के दर्मियान है उसकी बादशाहत है? (अगर है) तो उन्हें चाहिए के रस्सियां बांधकर (आस्मान पर) चढ़ जाएं।

১০. অথবা তাদের কি আকাশমন্ডলী ও পৃথিবী এবং এ দু’য়ের মাঝে যা কিছু রয়েছে তার রাজত্ব রয়েছে? (যদি থাকে) তাহলে তারা যেন রশি বেঁধে (আকাশে) আরোহণ করে।
(Sad, 38 : 10)

کَذَّبَتۡ قَبۡلَہُمۡ قَوۡمُ نُوۡحٍ وَّ عَادٌ وَّ فِرۡعَوۡنُ ذُو الۡاَوۡتَادِ ﴿ۙ۱۲﴾

12. اِن سے پہلے قومِ نوح نے اور عاد نے اور بڑی مضبوط حکومت والے (یا میخوں سے اذیّت دینے والے) فرعون نے (بھی) جھٹلایا تھاo

12. Before them, the people of Nuh (Noah) and ‘Ad denied (their messengers), and (so did) Pharaoh, who used to impale (his victims).

12. Before them the people of Nuh (Noah) and ‘Ad and (also) Pharaoh, the powerful king (who tortured with stakes), belied and disbelieved;

12. Kaththabat qablahum qawmu noohin waAAadun wafirAAawnu thoo alawtadi

12. Før dem forsverget også Noahs folk og ‛Ād og farao med det mektige herredømmet (eller han som pinte folk på stakene),

12. इनसे पहले क़ौमे नूह ने और आद ने और बड़ी मज़बूत हुकूमत वाले (या मेख़ों से अज़िय्यत देने वाले) फिरऔन ने (भी) झुटलाया था।

১২. তাদের পূর্বেও নূহ (আলাইহিস সালাম)-এঁর সম্প্রদায়, ’আদ এবং অপ্রতিরোধ্য ক্ষমতাধর (অথবা পেরেক দ্বারা নির্যাতনকারী) ফেরাউন মিথ্যাপ্রতিপন্ন করেছিল;
(Sad, 38 : 12)

وَ ثَمُوۡدُ وَ قَوۡمُ لُوۡطٍ وَّ اَصۡحٰبُ لۡـَٔیۡکَۃِ ؕ اُولٰٓئِکَ الۡاَحۡزَابُ ﴿۱۳﴾

13. اور ثمود نے اور قومِ لوط نے اور اَیکہ (بَن) کے رہنے والوں نے (یعنی قومِ شعیب نے) بھی (جھٹلایا تھا)، یہی وہ بڑے لشکر تھےo

13. And (so did) Thamud and the people of Lut (Lot) and the Forest-dwellers (i.e. the people of Shu‘ayb). These were all confederates (against the truth).

13. And Thamud and the people of Lut (Lot) and the dwellers of (the Wood) al-Ayka (i.e., the people of Shu‘ayb) too (denied). These were the large armies.

13. Wathamoodu waqawmu lootin waashabu alaykati olaika alahzabu

13. og Thamōd og Lots folk og Eykahs folk (Jetros folk, beboere av området med fyldige og tette trær) også (alle forsverget). Disse var de store armeene.

13. और समूद ने और क़ौमे लूत ने और ऐका (बन) के रहने वालों ने (यानी क़ौमे शुऐब ने) भी (झुटलाया था) यही वोह बड़े लश्कर थे।

১৩. আর সামূদ, লূত (আলাইহিস সালাম)-এঁর সম্প্রদায় এবং আইকার অধিবাসীরাও (অর্থাৎ শুয়াইব আলাইহিস সালামের বনবাসী সম্প্রদায়ও মিথ্যাপ্রতিপন্ন করেছিল)। এরা ছিল বিশাল বাহিনী।
(Sad, 38 : 13)
