Surah al-Ambiya’ with English Translation

11. اور ہم نے کتنی ہی بستیوں کو تباہ و برباد کر ڈالا جو ظالم تھیں اور ان کے بعد ہم نے اور قوموں کو پیدا فرما دیاo

11. And how many towns engaged in wrongdoing have We demolished and (then) raised other people after them?

11. And how many communities, which were unjust, did We destroy and We raised up other communities after them!

11. Wakam qasamna min qaryatin kanat thalimatan waanshana baAAdaha qawman akhareena

11. Og hvor mange byer som var ondsinnede, har Vi ikke knust og etter dem latt andre folk oppstå?

11. और हमने कितनी ही बस्तियों को तबाहो-बर्बाद कर डाला जो ज़ालिम थीं और उनके बाद हमने और क़ौमों को पैदा फरमा दिया।

وكم قصمنا من قرية كانت ظالمة وأنشأنا بعدها قوما آخرين

12. پھر جب انہوں نے ہمارے عذاب (کی آمد) کو محسوس کیا تو وہ وہاں سے تیزی کے ساتھ بھاگنے لگےo

12. So, when they felt Our Might (coming upon them), see how they tried to escape.

12. Then, when they sensed Our punishment (approaching), they started fleeing fast from there.

12. Falamma ahassoo basana itha hum minha yarkudoona

12. Når de følte Vår pine (nærme seg), begynte de å flykte derfra i all hast.

12. फिर जब उन्होंने हमारे अ़ज़ाब (की आमद) को मह्‌सूस किया तो वोह वहां से तेज़ी के साथ भागने लगे।

১২. অতঃপর, তারা যখন আমাদের শাস্তি (আগমন) উপলব্ধি করলো, তখন তারা সেখান থেকে দ্রুত পলায়ন করতে লাগলো।

فلما أحسوا بأسنا إذا هم منها يركضون

13. (ان سے کہا گیا:) تم جلدی مت بھاگو اور اسی جگہ واپس لوٹ جاؤ جس میں تمہیں آسائشیں دی گئی تھیں اور اپنی (پرتعیش) رہائش گاہوں کی طرف (پلٹ جاؤ) شاید تم سے باز پرس کی جائےo

13. (The angels said:) ‘Do not try to escape (now)! Return to the pleasures you were given to enjoy and to your dwellings. So that you may be questioned!’

13. (It was said to them:) ‘Do not flee in haste, and return to the same place where you were given comforts, and (go back) to your (luxurious) dwellings. It is likely that you are interrogated.’

13. La tarkudoo wairjiAAoo ila ma otriftum feehi wamasakinikum laAAallakum tusaloona

13. (Det ble sagt til dem): «Flykt ikke hastende, og vend tilbake til det stedet hvor dere fikk luksus å nyte, og til deres (luksuriøse) boliger; kanskje dere blir forhørt.»

لا تركضوا وارجعوا إلى ما أترفتم فيه ومساكنكم لعلكم تسألون

14. وہ کہنے لگے: ہائے شومئ قسمت! بیشک ہم ظالم تھےo

14. They said: ‘Woe to us! We have, indeed, been wrongdoers!’

14. They said: ‘Woe to us! Surely, we were wrongdoers.’

14. Qaloo ya waylana inna kunna thalimeena

14. De sa: «Ve oss! Sannelig, vi var ondskapsfulle!»

14. वोह कहने लगे: हाए शोमिए क़िस्मत! बेशक हम ज़ालिम थे।

১৪. তারা বলতে লাগলো, ‘হায় আমাদের দুর্ভাগ্য! আমরা তো ছিলাম যালিম।’

قالوا يا ويلنا إنا كنا ظالمين

15. سو ہمیشہ ان کی یہی فریاد رہی یہاں تک کہ ہم نے ان کو کٹی ہوئی کھیتی (اور) بجھی ہوئی آگ (کے ڈھیر) کی طرح بنا دیاo

15. This remained their cry until We made them a cut-off field, extinct (like burnt ashes).

15. So this is what they always bewailed till We made them like a reaped field (and a heap) of extinguished fire.

15. Fama zalat tilka daAAwahum hatta jaAAalnahum haseedan khamideena

15. Dette ble deres evige jammerrop, helt til Vi gjorde dem lik en stubbmark (og som en askehaug) av slokket ild.

15. सो हमेशा उनकी येही फरियाद रही यहां तक कि हमने उनको कटी हुई खेती (और) बुझी हुई आग (के ढेर) की तरह बना दिया।

فما زالت تلك دعواهم حتى جعلناهم حصيدا خامدين

16. اور ہم نے آسمان اور زمین کو اور جو کچھ ان کے درمیان ہے کھیل تماشے کے طور پر (بے کار) نہیں بنایاo

16. We did not create the heavens, earth, or whatever is between them just for play.

16. And We have not created the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them (useless) as a sport.

16. Wama khalaqna alssamaa waalarda wama baynahuma laAAibeena

16. Og Vi har ikke skapt himmel og jord og alt det som mellom dem begge er, som en lek (nytteløs, uten formål).

16. और हमने आस्मान और ज़मीन को और जो कुछ उनके दर्मियान है खेल तमाशे के तौर पर (बेकार) नहीं बनाया।

১৬. আর আমরা আসমান ও জমিন এবং যা কিছু এ দু’য়ের মাঝে রয়েছে ক্রীড়াচ্ছলে (অনর্থক) সৃষ্টি করিনি।

وما خلقنا السماء والأرض وما بينهما لاعبين

17. اگر ہم کوئی کھیل تماشا اختیار کرنا چاہتے تو اسے اپنی ہی طرف سے اختیار کر لیتے اگر ہم (ایسا) کرنے والے ہوتےo

17. Had We wished to have some entertainment, We would have indeed found it in Our presence if We were to do (so).

17. If We intended to take up some sport, We would adopt it on Our own if at all We were to do (so).

17. Law aradna an nattakhitha lahwan laittakhathnahu min ladunna in kunna faAAileena

17. Hvis Vi hadde hatt til hensikt å omfavne en lek, kunne Vi ha omfavnet den hos Oss selv, hvis Vi noen gang skulle gjøre slik.

17. अगर हम कोई खेल तमाशा इख़्तियार करना चाहते तो उसे अपनी ही तरफ से इख़्तियार कर लेते अगर हम (ऐसा) करने वाले होते।

لو أردنا أن نتخذ لهوا لاتخذناه من لدنا إن كنا فاعلين

18. بلکہ ہم حق سے باطل پر پوری قوت کے ساتھ چوٹ لگاتے ہیں سو حق اسے کچل دیتا ہے پس وہ (باطل) ہلاک ہو جاتا ہے، اور تمہارے لئے ان باتوں کے باعث تباہی ہے جو تم بیان کرتے ہوo

18. Rather, We cast truth against falsehood, and it crushes its head. And behold, it (i.e. falsehood) vanishes away. And woe to you for what you allege (about Allah).
