Surah al-‘Asr Ayat 1 with English Translation

1. زمانہ کی قَسم (جس کی گردش انسانی حالات پر گواہ ہے)۔ یا: نماز عصر کی قسم (کہ وہ سب نمازوں کا وسط ہے)۔ یا: وقت عصر کی قسم (جب دن بھر چمکنے والا سورج خود ڈوبنے کا منظر پیش کرتا ہے)۔ یا: زمانۂ بعثت مصطفیٰ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی قَسم (جو سارے زمانوں کا ماحصل اور مقصود ہے)o

1. By Time!*

* From the probable meanings of ‘al-‘Asr’, the scholars of exegesis opined that the most likely meaning is the late afternoon ritual prayer, for this is the middlemost prayer of the day. Some opined that it refers to the blessed era of Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him) because of Allah’s special blessings and bounties in sending the Last and Final Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him), for it marks the point in human history when Divine revelation and Prophethood came to a close. Moreover, this era of the Final Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) was the best of all the eras of humankind throughout history. The word ‘al-‘Asr’ may also refer to the remaining time left in this world for the Umma of Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him). Some scholars consider it a general reference to time per se due to its significance so that people may spend their time wisely and beneficially. Every second of our life that passes never returns; thus, time is such a commodity that, if lost, can never be recovered. According to some scholars, it refers to the declining hours of the day, i.e. late afternoon till sunset, or it may indicate the moment when life ends.

1. By the passing time (whose rotation bears witness to the affairs of mankind). Or By the Prayer of declining day (‘Asr, for this Prayer is the middle of all Prayers). Or By the declining time of the day, (when the sun, after shining for the whole day, presents the sight of its setting). Or By the holy era of the Prophethood of Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him), the sole objective and the most coveted achievement of all ages historic as well as pre-historic, and of all times to come.

1. Ved tiden (hvis vandring er vitne på menneskers affærer)!
(1. Ved ettermiddagstidebønnen [for den er den midterste tidebønnen]!)
(1. Ved skråningstiden [når solen som skinner hele dagen, viser sin nedgang]!)
(1. Ved Mohammad den utvalgtes [ﷺ] kommes tid [som er all tids høst og mål]!)

1.ज़माने की क़सम (जिसकी गर्दिश इंसानी हालात पर गवाह है) । या - नमाज़े अ़स्र की क़सम (कि वोह सब नमाज़ों का वस्त है) । या - वक़्ते अ़स्र की क़सम (जब दिन भर चमकने वाला सूरज ख़ुद डूबने का मंज़र पेश करता है) या - ज़मानए बिअ़सते मुस्तफा (सल्लल्लाहु अ़लैहि व सल्लम) की क़सम (जो सारे ज़मानों का माहस्ल और मक़्सूद है) । ।

১. মহাকালের শপথ! (যার আবর্তন মানুষের অবস্থার সাক্ষ্য বহন করে।)<br>অথবা: শপথ আসর নামাযের! (কারণ তা সকল নামাযের মধ্যবর্তী নামায।)<br> অথবা শপথ আসরের সময়ের! (যখন দিনভর আলোবিকীরণকারী সূর্য স্বয়ং অস্তমিত হওয়ার দৃশ্য উপস্থাপন করে।)<br> অথবা শপথ মুস্তাফা (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া আলিহী ওয়া সাল্লাম)-এঁর নবুয়্যতকালীন পবিত্র সময়ের! (যা ঐতিহাসিক, প্রাগৈতিহাসিক এবং অনাগত সকল কালের একমাত্র লক্ষ্য এবং কাঙ্ক্ষিত অর্জন।)
