Surah al-Hashr with English Translation

11. کیا آپ نے منافقوں کو نہیں دیکھا جو اپنے اُن بھائیوں سے کہتے ہیں جو اہلِ کتاب میں سے کافر ہوگئے ہیں کہ اگر تم (یہاں سے) نکالے گئے توہم بھی ضرور تمہارے ساتھ ہی نکل چلیں گے اور ہم تمہارے معاملے میں کبھی بھی کسی ایک کی بھی اطاعت نہیں کریں گے اور اگر تم سے جنگ کی گئی تو ہم ضرور بالضرور تمہاری مدد کریں گے، اور اللہ گواہی دیتا ہے کہ وہ یقیناً جھوٹے ہیںo

11. Have you not seen those who have become hypocrites? They say to their brothers—the disbelievers among the People of the Book: ‘If you are expelled (from here), we will surely go out with you. And we will never obey anyone against you. And if you are fought, we will surely help you.’ Allah bears witness that they are certainly liars.

11. Have you not seen the hypocrites who say to their brothers amongst the People of the Book who have become disbelievers: ‘If you are driven out (from here), we too will necessarily leave with you and will never obey anyone in your case, and if you are attacked, we will most certainly help you’? But Allah bears witness that they are certainly liars.

11. Alam tara ila allatheena nafaqoo yaqooloona liikhwanihimu allatheena kafaroo min ahli alkitabi lain okhrijtum lanakhrujanna maAAakum wala nuteeAAu feekum ahadan abadan wain qootiltum lanansurannakum waAllahu yashhadu innahum lakathiboona

11. Har du da ikke sett hyklerne som sier til sine brødre som er blitt vantro av skriftens folk: «Hvis dere blir drevet ut (herfra), vil vi visselig dra ut sammen med dere, og vi vil aldri adlyde noen når det gjelder dere. Og hvis det kjempes mot dere, vil vi visselig hjelpe dere!» Men Allah bevitner at de i sannhet er løgnere.

11. क्या आपने मुनाफिक़ों को नहीं देखा जो अपने उन भाइयों से कहते हैं जो अहले किताब में से काफिर हो गए हैं कि अगर तुम (यहां से) निकाले गए तो हम भी ज़रूर तुम्हारे साथ ही निकल चलेंगे और हम तुम्हारे मुआम्ले में कभी भी किसी एक की भी इताअ़त नहीं करेंगे और अगर तुमसे जंग की गई तो हम ज़रूर बिज़्ज़रूर तुम्हारी मदद करेंगे, और अल्लाह गवाही देता है कि वोह यक़ीनन झूटे हैं।

১১. আপনি কি মুনাফেকদেরকে দেখেননি? তারা আহলে কিতাবের মধ্যে যারা কুফরী করেছে তাদের সেসব ভাইদেরকে বলে, ‘যদি তোমরা (এখান থেকে) বহিষ্কৃত হও, তবে আমরাও তোমাদের সাথেই বের হয়ে যাবো এবং আমরা তোমাদের ব্যাপারে কখনোই কারো কথা মানবো না। আর যদি তোমরা আক্রান্ত হও, তবে আমরা অবশ্য অবশ্যই তোমাদেরকে সাহায্য করবো।’ কিন্তু আল্লাহ্ সাক্ষ্য দিচ্ছেন, তারা অবশ্যই মিথ্যাবাদী।

ألم تر إلى الذين نافقوا يقولون لإخوانهم الذين كفروا من أهل الكتاب لئن أخرجتم لنخرجن معكم ولا نطيع فيكم أحدا أبدا وإن قوتلتم لننصرنكم والله يشهد إنهم لكاذبون

12. اگر وہ (شر پسند یہود مدینے سے) نکال دیے گئے تو یہ (منافقین) اُن کے ساتھ (کبھی) نہیں نکلیں گے، اور اگر اُن سے جنگ کی گئی تو یہ اُن کی مدد نہیں کریں گے، اور اگر انہوں نے اُن کی مدد کی (بھی) تو ضرور پیٹھ پھیر کر بھاگ جائیں گے، پھر اُن کی مدد (کہیں سے) نہ ہوسکے گیo

12. If they were expelled, these (hypocrites) would never leave with them. And if they were fought, they would never help them. Were they to help them, they would surely turn their backs (to flee), and then they would not be supported (from anywhere).

12. If they (the mischief-monger Jews) are driven out (from Medina), these (hypocrites) will never leave with them. Nor will they help them if they are put to fight. But if (at all) they do come to their help, they will for sure flee, turning their backs. Then they will not be helped (from anywhere).

12. Lain okhrijoo la yakhrujoona maAAahum walain qootiloo la yansuroonahum walain nasaroohum layuwallunna aladbara thumma la yunsaroona

12. Hvis de (krigslystne jødene fra Medina) blir drevet ut, vil de (hyklerne) aldri dra ut sammen med dem, og hvis det blir kjempet mot dem, vil de ikke hjelpe dem, og hvis de nå skulle hjelpe dem, vil de visselig vende ryggen til i flukt; da vil de ikke hjelpes (fra noe hold).

12. अगर वोह (शर पसन्द यहूद मदीने से) निकाल दिए गए तो ये (मुनाफिक़ीन) उनके साथ (कभी) नहीं निकलेंगे, और अगर उनसे जंग की गई तो ये उनकी मदद नहीं करेंगे, और अगर उन्होंने उनकी मदद की (भी) तो ज़रूर पीठ फेर कर भाग जाएंगे, फिर उनकी मदद (कहीं से) न हो सकेगी।

১২. যদি তারা (মদীনার অবিশ্বাসী ইহুদীরা) বহিষ্কৃত হয়, তবে এরা (এ মুনাফেকেরা কখনো) তাদের সাথে বের হয়ে যাবে না। আর যদি তারা আক্রান্ত হয়, তবে তারা তাদেরকে সাহায্য করবে না। আর তারা তাদেরকে সাহায্য করতে এলেও অবশ্যই তারা পশ্চাতে ফিরে পলায়ন করবে। অতঃপর তাদেরকে (কোথাও থেকেই) সাহায্য করা হবে না।

لئن أخرجوا لا يخرجون معهم ولئن قوتلوا لا ينصرونهم ولئن نصروهم ليولن الأدبار ثم لا ينصرون

13. (اے مسلمانو!) بیشک اُن کے دلوں میں اللہ سے (بھی) زیادہ تمہارا رعب اور خوف ہے، یہ اس وجہ سے کہ وہ ایسے لوگ ہیں جو سمجھ ہی نہیں رکھتےo

13. (O Believers!) Indeed, there is more fear in their hearts for you than for Allah. That is because they are a people who do not comprehend.

13. (O Muslims!) Indeed, they have greater fear of you in their hearts than Allah’s. The reason is that they are the people who do not possess understanding.

13. Laantum ashaddu rahbatan fee sudoorihim mina Allahi thalika biannahum qawmun la yafqahoona

13. (Å, dere muslimer!) I sannhet, de har større frykt for dere i hjertet sitt enn Allah. Dette fordi de er et folk som intet begriper.

13. (ऐ मुसलमानो!) बेशक उनके दिलों में अल्लाह से (भी) ज़ियादा तुम्हारा रो’ब और ख़ौफ है, ये इस वजह से कि वोह ऐसे लोग हैं जो समझ ही नहीं रखते।

১৩. (হে মুসলামানগণ!) প্রকৃতপক্ষে তাদের অন্তরে আল্লাহ্ অপেক্ষা তোমাদের ভয়ই অধিকতর। তা এ জন্যে যে, তারা সেসব লোক যারা নির্বোধ।

لأنتم أشد رهبة في صدورهم من الله ذلك بأنهم قوم لا يفقهون

14. وہ (مدینے کے عہد شکن یہود اور منافقین) سب مل کر (بھی) تم سے جنگ نہ کرسکیں گے سوائے قلعہ بند شہروں میں یا دیواروں کی آڑ میں، اُن کی لڑائی اُن کے آپس میں (ہی) سخت ہے، تم انہیں اکٹھا سمجھتے ہو حالانکہ اُن کے دل باہم متفرّق ہیں، یہ اس لئے کہ وہ لوگ عقل سے کام نہیں لیتےo

14. They (i.e. the treacherous Jews of Medina and the hypocrites) will not fight against you (even allied) altogether, except in fortified townships or from behind walls. There is severe hostility between them. You think they are united, but their hearts are divided. That is because they are a people who do not understand,

14. They (the Jews of Medina, who breached the treaty, and the hypocrites) will not be able to fight against you (even) allied, except in fortified towns or taking cover behind walls. They fight hard (but) amongst themselves. You think they are united, whereas their hearts are disunited. The reason is that they do not apply reason.

14. La yuqatiloonakum jameeAAan illa fee quran muhassanatin aw min warai judurin basuhum baynahum shadeedun tahsabuhum jameeAAan waquloobuhum shatta thalika biannahum qawmun la yaAAqiloona

14. De (Medinas jøder som brøt fredspakten og hyklerne) vil ikke klare å kjempe mot dere, (ikke engang) samlet, unntatt i befestede byer eller i murveggers dekning. Deres kjemping seg imellom er hard, dere anser dem som samlet, enda hjertet deres er oppdelt. Dette fordi de er et folk som ikke tar i bruk fornuften.

14. वोह (मदीने के अ़हद शिकन यहूद और मुनाफिक़ीन) सब मिलकर (भी) तुमसे जंग न कर सकेंगे सिवाए क़िल्आ बन्द शहरों में या दीवारों की आड़ में, उनकी लड़ाई उनके आपस में (ही) सख़्त है, तुम उन्हें इकट्‌ठा समझते हो हालांकिउनके दिल बाहम मुतफर्रिक़ हैं, ये इसलिए कि वोह लोग अ़क़्ल से काम नहीं लेते।

১৪. তারা (মদীনার ইহুদী ও মুনাফেকেরা) সংঘবদ্ধভাবেও তোমাদের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করতে সক্ষম হবে না, কেবল সুরক্ষিত শহর অথবা দেয়ালের আড়াল ব্যতীত। তাদের পারস্পরিক যুদ্ধই তীব্রতর। তুমি তাদেরকে সংঘবদ্ধ মনে করো, অথচ তাদের অন্তর শতধাবিচ্ছিন্ন। তা এ জন্যে যে, এরা নির্বোধ সম্প্রদায়।

لا يقاتلونكم جميعا إلا في قرى محصنة أو من وراء جدر بأسهم بينهم شديد تحسبهم جميعا وقلوبهم شتى ذلك بأنهم قوم لا يعقلون

15. (اُن کا حال) اُن لوگوں جیسا ہے جو اُن سے پہلے زمانۂ قریب میں ہی اپنی شامتِ اعمال کا مزہ چکھ چکے ہیں (یعنی بدر میں مشرکینِ مکہ، اور یہود میں سے بنو نضیر، بنو قینقاع و بنو قریظہ وغیرہ)، اور ان کے لئے (آخرت میں بھی) دردناک عذاب ہےo

15. like those who, shortly before them, tasted the evil consequences of their conduct.* There is a painful punishment for them (in the Hereafter).

* This verse refers to the idolaters of Mecca at Badr and the Banu Nadir, Banu Qaynuqa‘ and Banu Qurayza from the Jews who committed an act of treason against the state by breaching the Treaty of Medina.

15. (Their plight) resembles those who have tasted the evil consequences of their works shortly before them (i.e., the idolaters of Mecca in Badr and Banu Nadir, Banu Qaynuqa‘ and Banu Qurayza of the Jews, etc.). And there is for them a grievous punishment (in the Hereafter as well).

15. Kamathali allatheena min qablihim qareeban thaqoo wabala amrihim walahum AAathabun aleemun

15. Deres tilstand ligner de (Mekkas flergudsdyrkere på Badr-dagen og jødene [Banō Qaynoqā‛ og Banō Qorayzah]) som like før dem har følt smaken av sine handlingers konsekvenser, og dem venter en smertelig pine (i det hinsidige også).

15. (उनका हाल) उन लोगों जैसा है जो उनसे पहले ज़मानए क़रीब में ही अपनी शामते आमाल का मज़ा चख चुके हैं (यानी बद्र में मुश्रिकीने मक्का, और यहूद में से बनू नज़ीर, बनू कै़नक़ाअ़ व बनू क़ुरैज़ा वग़ैरह) और उनके लिये (आख़िरत में भी) दर्दनाक अ़ज़ाब है।

১৫. (তাদের অবস্থা) সেসব লোকের ন্যায় যারা তাদের পূর্বে নিকট অতীতে নিজেদের কৃতকর্মের পরিণতি আস্বাদন করেছে (অর্থাৎ বদরে মক্কার মুশরিকেরা, ইহুদীদের মাঝে বনী নাযীর, বনু কাইনুকা, বনু কুরাইযা ও অন্যান্য দল ও গোষ্ঠী) আর তাদের জন্যে (পরকালেও) রয়েছে যন্ত্রণাদায়ক শাস্তি।

كمثل الذين من قبلهم قريبا ذاقوا وبال أمرهم ولهم عذاب أليم

16. (منافقوں کی مثال) شیطان جیسی ہے جب وہ انسان سے کہتا ہے کہ تُو کافر ہو جا، پھر جب وہ کافر ہوجاتا ہے تو (شیطان) کہتا ہے: میں تجھ سے بیزار ہوں، بیشک میں اللہ سے ڈرتا ہوں جو تمام جہانوں کا رب ہےo

16. (The example of the hypocrites is) like Satan when he says to human being: ‘Disbelieve’, but when he disbelieves, he says: ‘I am absolved of you. Surely, I fear Allah, the Lord of all worlds.’

16. (The example of hypocrites) is like that of Satan when he says to man: ‘Become a disbeliever,’ but when he disbelieves, he (Satan) says: ‘I feel sick of you. Surely, I fear Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.’

16. Kamathali alshshaytani ith qala lilinsani okfur falamma kafara qala innee bareeon minka innee akhafu Allaha rabba alAAalameena

16. (Hyklerne er) som Satan, når han sier til mennesket: «Bli vantro!», og som når han blir vantro, sier: «Jeg finner deg motbydelig! Sannelig, jeg frykter Allah, alle verdeners Herre!»

16. (मुनाफिक़ों की मिसाल) शैतान जैसी है जब वोह इंसान से कहता है कि तू काफिर हो जा, फिर जब वोह काफिर हो जाता है तो (शैतान) कहता है मैं तुझसे बेज़ार हूं, बेशक मैं अल्लाह से डरता हूं जो तमाम जहानों का रब है।

১৬. (মুনাফেকদের দৃষ্টান্ত) শয়তানের মতো, যখন সে মানুষকে বলে, ‘কুফরী করো’; অতঃপর যখন সে কুফরী করে তখন সে (শয়তান) বলে, ‘তোমার সাথে আমার কোনো সম্পর্ক নেই, আমি অবশ্যই ভয় করি আল্লাহ্কে যিনি বিশ্ব জাহানের প্রতিপালক’।

كمثل الشيطان إذ قال للإنسان اكفر فلما كفر قال إني بريء منك إني أخاف الله رب العالمين

17. پھر ان دونوں کا انجام یہ ہوگا کہ وہ دونوں دوزخ میں ہوں گے ہمیشہ اسی میں رہیں گے، اور ظالموں کی یہی سزا ہےo

17. The fate of both is that they will be in the Hellfire, remaining there forever. Such is the requital of the wrongdoers.

17. Then both of them will end up in Hell and will dwell in it forever. And that is indeed the punishment of the wrongdoers.

17. Fakana AAaqibatahuma annahuma fee alnnari khalidayni feeha wathalika jazao alththalimeena

17. Så vil begges ende være at de vil havne i helvete, for alltid vil de være der, og dette er de ondsinnedes straff.

17. फिर उन दोनों का अंजाम ये होगा कि वोह दोनों दोज़ख़ में होंगे हमेशा उसी में रहेंगे, और ज़ालिमों की येही सज़ा है।

১৭. অতঃপর উভয়ের পরিণতি হবে জাহান্নাম, তাতেই চিরকাল অবস্থান করবে। আর জালিমদের এটিই শাস্তি।

فكان عاقبتهما أنهما في النار خالدين فيها وذلك جزاء الظالمين
