Surah as-Saffat with English Translation

139. اور یونس (علیہ السلام بھی) واقعی رسولوں میں سے تھےo

139. And indeed, Yunus (Jonah) was among the messengers,

139. And Yunus (Jonah too) was indeed one of the Messengers,

139. Wainna yoonusa lamina almursaleena

139. Og sannelig, Jonas var av sendebudene,

139. और यूनुस (अ़लैहिस्सलाम भी) वाके़ई रसूलों में से थे।

১৩৯. আর ইউনুস (আলাইহিস সালামও) বাস্তবিকই ছিলেন রাসূলগণের একজন।

وإن يونس لمن المرسلين

140. جب وہ بھری ہوئی کشتی کی طرف دوڑےo

140. when he fled to the overloaded ship.

140. When he ran towards the full boat.

140. Ith abaqa ila alfulki almashhooni

140. da han løp til det fullastede skipet.

140. जब वोह भरी हुई कश्ती की तरफ दौड़े।

১৪০. যখন তিনি বোঝাই নৌযানের দিকে ছুটে গেলেন

إذ أبق إلى الفلك المشحون

141. پھر (کشتی بھنور میں پھنس گئی تو) انہوں نے قرعہ ڈالا تو وہ (قرعہ میں) مغلوب ہوگئے (یعنی ان کا نام نکل آیا اور کشتی والوں نے انہیں دریا میں پھینک دیا)o

141. So he joined (the other passengers) in drawing lots (to save the ship from sinking), but he was the one to be overthrown (into the sea).

141. Then (when it was caught into a whirlpool) they cast lots, and (in the draws) he came to be the loser (i.e., his name was drawn and those in the boat cast him overboard into the river).

141. Fasahama fakana mina almudhadeena

141. Da (skipet satt fast i en virvelstrøm), kastet de lodd, og han tapte (loddkastet, navnet hans ble trukket, og han ble av den grunn kastet ut i havet).

فساهم فكان من المدحضين

142. پھر مچھلی نے ان کو نگل لیا اور وہ (اپنے آپ پر) نادم رہنے والے تھےo

142. Then the whale swallowed him, and he was a self-condemning repentant.

142. Then the fish swallowed him and he was a (self-condemning) repentant.

142. Failtaqamahu alhootu wahuwa muleemun

142. Derpå slukte hvalfisken ham, mens han (selvbebreidende) angret.

142. फिर मछली ने उनको निगल लिया और वोह (अपने आप पर) नादिम रहने वाले थे।

১৪২. অতঃপর বৃহদাকার মৎস তাঁকে গিলে ফেললো এবং তিনি (নিজেকে) ধিক্কার দিতে লাগলেন।

فالتقمه الحوت وهو مليم

143. پھر اگر وہ (اللہ کی) تسبیح کرنے والوں میں سے نہ ہوتےo

143. If he had not been among those who glorify (Allah),

143. Then if he had not been of those who glorify (Allah),

143. Falawla annahu kana mina almusabbiheena

143. Hvis han ikke hadde vært av dem som forherliger (Allahs) hellighet,

143. फिर अगर वोह (अल्लाह की) तस्बीह करने वालों में से न होते।

১৪৩. অতঃপর যদি তিনি (আল্লাহ্‌র) পত্রিতা ও মহিমা ঘোষণাকারীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত না হতেন

فلولا أنه كان من المسبحين

144. تو اس (مچھلی) کے پیٹ میں اُس دن تک رہتے جب لوگ (قبروں سے) اٹھائے جائیں گےo

144. he would have surely remained in its belly till the day people will be resurrected.

144. He would have stayed in the belly (of the fish) till the Day when people will be resurrected (from the graves).

144. Lalabitha fee batnihi ila yawmi yubAAathoona

144. ville han ha forblitt i magen dens (hvalfiskens) til den dag da folk blir gjenoppvekket (fra gravene).

144. तो उस (मछली) के पेट में उस दिन तक रहते जब लोग (क़ब्रो से) उठाए जाएंगे।

,১৪৪. তবে তিনি (এ মৎস)-এর উদরে থাকতেন সেদিন পর্যন্ত যেদিন লোকদেরকে (কবর থেকে) উত্থিত করা হবে।

للبث في بطنه إلى يوم يبعثون

145. پھر ہم نے انہیں (ساحلِ دریا پر) کھلے میدان میں ڈال دیا حالانکہ وہ بیمار تھےo

145. Then We cast him out upon the open shore while he was sick.

145. Then We cast him onto a wide plain (i.e., the beach) whilst he was sick.

145. Fanabathnahu bialAAarai wahuwa saqeemun

145. Så kastet Vi ham opp på en vid slette (havstranden), enda han var syk,

145. फिर हमने उन्हें (साहिले दरिया पर) खुले मैदान में डाल दिया हालांकि वोह बीमार थे।

১৪৫. অতঃপর আমরা তাঁকে নিক্ষেপ করলাম (সাগরের তীরে) তৃণহীন প্রান্তরে, যখন তিনি ছিলেন অসুস্থ।
