قَاتِلُوا الَّذِیۡنَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ بِاللّٰہِ وَ لَا بِالۡیَوۡمِ الۡاٰخِرِ وَ لَا یُحَرِّمُوۡنَ مَا حَرَّمَ اللّٰہُ وَ رَسُوۡلُہٗ وَ لَا یَدِیۡنُوۡنَ دِیۡنَ الۡحَقِّ مِنَ الَّذِیۡنَ اُوۡتُوا الۡکِتٰبَ حَتّٰی یُعۡطُوا الۡجِزۡیَۃَ عَنۡ یَّدٍ وَّ ہُمۡ صٰغِرُوۡنَ ﴿٪۲۹﴾
29. (اے مسلمانو!) تم اہلِ کتاب میں سے ان لوگوں کے ساتھ (بھی جوابی) جنگ کرو (جنہوں نے تمہارے ساتھ مدینہ میں کیے ہوئے معاہدۂ اَمن کو توڑ کر، جلا وطنی کے باوُجود جنگ اَحزاب میں مدینہ پر حملہ آور کفارِ مکہ کی اَفواج کی بھرپور مدد کی اور اب بھی تمہارے خلاف تمام ممکنہ سازشیں جاری رکھے ہوئے ہیں) جو نہ اللہ پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں نہ یومِ آخرت پر اور نہ ان چیزوں کو حرام جانتے ہیں جنہیں اللہ اور اس کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے حرام قرار دیا ہے اور نہ ہی دینِ حق اختیارکرتے ہیں، یہاں تک کہ وہ (ریاست کے دستور اور نظام کے) تابع ہو کر اپنے ہاتھ سے ریاستی حفاظت کا ٹیکس (جو عسکری خدمات سے اِستثناء کی صورت میں وصول کیا جاتا ہے) ادا کریںo
29. (O Muslims!) Wage (also a defensive) war against those of the People of the Book who (infringed the peace treaty signed with you in Medina, and despite being in exile, provided full support to the disbelieving Meccan invaders who imposed the battle of al-Ahzab [the Confederates] on Medina, and have continued every possible conspiracy against you even now). They do not have faith in Allah and the Last Day, and do not consider unlawful the things Allah and His Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) have declared unlawful, and do not adopt the true Religion until they give in and surrender (to the state and constitution), by paying the state security tax with their own hands (in case of exemption from military services).
