اُولٰٓئِکَ الَّذِیۡنَ یَدۡعُوۡنَ یَبۡتَغُوۡنَ اِلٰی رَبِّہِمُ الۡوَسِیۡلَۃَ اَیُّہُمۡ اَقۡرَبُ وَ یَرۡجُوۡنَ رَحۡمَتَہٗ وَ یَخَافُوۡنَ عَذَابَہٗ ؕ اِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّکَ کَانَ مَحۡذُوۡرًا ﴿۵۷﴾

57. یہ لوگ جن کی عبادت کرتے ہیں (یعنی ملائکہ، جنّات، عیسٰی اور عزیر علیہما السلام وغیرھم کے بت اور تصویریں بنا کر انہیں پوجتے ہیں) وہ (تو خود ہی) اپنے رب کی طرف وسیلہ تلاش کرتے ہیں کہ ان میں سے (بارگاہِ الٰہی میں) زیادہ مقرّب کون ہے اور (وہ خود) اس کی رحمت کے امیدوار ہیں اور (وہ خود ہی) اس کے عذاب سے ڈرتے رہتے ہیں، (اب تم ہی بتاؤ کہ وہ معبود کیسے ہو سکتے ہیں وہ تو خود معبودِ برحق کے سامنے جھک رہے ہیں)، بیشک آپ کے رب کا عذاب ڈرنے کی چیز ہےo

57. Those that they worship (i.e., they prepare sculptures and images of angels, jinn, the Prophet ‘Isa [Jesus], ‘Uzayr [Ezra] and others and worship them) look for mediation to their Lord (themselves) as to who amongst them is most intimate (in the presence of Allah). And they (themselves) hope for His mercy and fear His torment. (Now say yourselves how they can be gods. They are prostrating themselves before the True God.) Indeed, the torment of your Lord is a thing to fear.
